Whaddup peoples? Just joined! Ok, I'm thinking about getting a 500- but my biggest concern is how does the transfer of programs from the 2000/1000 work? Since you have 16 sounds in a program w/ 4 banks & now you have 12? What happens to the other 4 sounds? I'm keeping my 2000XL or trading it for a 1000 but I can't get the 500 if I can't easily switch my progams back & forth.

Pads 13-16 of Bank A in your 2000 will appear as Pads 1-4 of Bank B in the 500 and so on :)

Thanks- but there's still 64 sounds per program in the 2000XL. Even if it reassigns them like you said, there's going to be a total of only 48 sounds.

Yup, that's the limitations of an MPC500 with 12 pads and 4 banks. What more do you want at that price ? ;) ;)

For anything over $300, I want my sounds, at least. I hear you though- you basically don't get your D pad sounds from the 2000XL, but you'll get A-C. Just wondering how much the 500 is worth getting, or should I keep my 2000XL & get the 1k. Thanks!

I wouldnt be trading in a 2000xl for a 500, as a matter of fact I wouldnt trade in a 2000xl for a 1000. The 500 isnt going to replace your other mpc just because its new. If anything you should keep your 2000 and save up for a 500 so that you have 2 mpc's or just not get a 500 at all. I think you'll be really upset that you traded in a more powerful machine for a less powerful one and the only thing you'd gain is portablity.

I'm not trading my 2000XL for a 500- I'm trading it for the 1000. & with the JJ Operating system, I'll basically have a machine w/ the capabilities of the 2500 at the size & price of a 1000. I think I'll take that over my 2000XL. The 500 would just be an additional machine for traveling/commuting etc.
