so, say I had a Mophatt...

I'm thinking about buying a rack synth to go with my 2kxl. So say If I got a mophatt or something, how would I go about setting it up with my mpc, so I could record the bass and strings and whatnot from the rack into the mpc track?

Also do you think buying a rack synth like a mophatt or proteus2k would be better than a micron or something?

I say go for the protues 2000 and add the mo phatt rom.

mophatt only got 2 audio outs and proteus 2000 got 6 right? what's the advantage in that? how that makes difference in action?

and why do you think it's better to add mophatt rom to 2000 than just get the mophatt module?

You pretty much answered your own question. The proteus 2000 is going to offer more soundsets, more outputs, and spdif cards. Now wouldnt u want the one with more stuff?! I know i would.

if I only want mophatt at the moment, do you think I would miss the outputs of proteus?

also, can you run audio thru the unit and use the filters and stuff. or is it just for built in sounds?

If you want the outputs, find you a TurboPhatt.
You would do well to get keys to trigger your synth.
For the money, I would just buy a cheap used Motif6.
Much iller, and you'll have a nice keyboard.

The micron is ok actually. Then you'll get keys, it has some
good stock sounds like all the major keyboards as well
as the 'analog modeling' sounds it claims.

But the micron is only 4 part multitimbral.
By comparison, the Proteus, turbophatt, Fantom
Motif, pretty much any major brand, will be 16 parts.
4 midi channels is pretty scampi to work with.
Get a real machine, you will be good.
