It works fine here. I didn't have to turn anything on.

Can anybody tell me if it's possible to change the length of notes in the new pianoroll-style Midi edit screen?

Sure, it's all explained here

Thanks a bunch for pointing this out, once I figured out I need to activate overdub first the rest is really intuitive. Well done JJ!

really? what about other's mpcs? i couldn't find an option to turn the tap tempo off or on on mine. if its like this on others mps, should i report this as a bug?

when i use the p.mode function to assign a pad for the tap tempo fuction, it would mess up my beat if the pad was utilized with the beat so i'm not a fan of assigning pads. plus i am used to using the already assigned buttons.

what was broken?

good question, I have a m-audio keystation 66 brand new. The 2500 will not pick it up, I plug the midi out from keystation into the midi in of the 2500 and nothing. Also i could never sync it properly only works as master not slave. Sent it back to Akai.

the form says they upgraded the software and tested the midi. well guess what, nothing has changed still the same. When they say upgarded the software I sent it back on 1.22 and it came back with 1.22 they had the unit for 4 weeks and all they did was reload the OS, **** bullshit man I paid a lot of money for this shit.

not sure what to do next

If Akai tested it and returned it to you...possibly you are doing something wrong in terms of how you are using it with your controller (or perhaps your controller is at fault).

As far as getting the MPC to sync as a SLAVE....it is a problem with the OS 1.22. You will have to set it as a SLAVE for MTC and press play. The MPC will the wait for an MTC signal. Once it receives an MTC signal, it will start to play. However, it will not stop unless you press stop on the MPC.

You can load the JJ 3rd party OS which will address this issue.

If you do a search on MTC, you will see quite a few threads about this.

I have checked my controller by using just the midi out into reason and it works fine.
before I sent it back to Akai I tested the 2500 with other controllers in the shop i bought it from DV. The results were no M-audio controller was being picked up by the 2500, hence sending it back.

I have an edirol pcr 30 which works fine so i know its not human error.

I have just down loaded jj v5 and will test the sync

So how are you using your MPC? Do you have external sound modules connected to its MIDI OUTS? Do you have sounds loaded into the MPC and trying to trigger them from your MIDI controller?

I use reason and VSTi's as souund moudles, so wish to trigger these using the m-audio controller and record the midi in the mpc. I can do this using the edirol contorller no problem.

is the keyboard controller connected via USB? if so, i don't think the physical midi out of the keyboard gets used in that case. try unplugging the usb, and powering it some other way.

I am using an external power supply and midi cable only. Reason sees it through my midi sport interface no problem, plug it into 2500..... nothing

how weird, and you say the edirol one was working fine?

By maxim1 Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:19 pm
works no problem, just not with the 2500 tried both midi in ports

sorry the last statement sounds confusing, yes the Edirol works fine but the keystation will not work with 2500 tried on both midi in ports.

this is on both OS Akai an JJ.

The 1000 and 2500 JJ OSs are still different. Perhaps the 2500 doesn't have this feature yet. What's strange is my tap tempo has worked fine on v5, but others seem to be having problems.

and you've tried different cables? some cables don't have all 5 pins connected, not that that should make a difference, but it's the only other thing i can think of. that's a weird one, let us know if you get it sorted out.
