hey whats up everyone?
i was wondering if this has happened to anyone.
i have been making beats then sampling the main outs
so i can transfer them to my computer.
i have done this succesfully many times but the problem is, sometimes after
the transfer i play the wav. on the computer and some of the higher pitched sounds are missing!! even though it was fine on the mpc.
this so far has happend twice and it is really frustrating.
is it my computer? i use a fairly new ibook g4 so it doesn't seem likely.
any thoughts on this?
thanks

You resample it inside the MPC first? Are the sounds still present then, or are they gone there already?

the sounds are present in the mpc.

I don't really have a clue what could be going on here but let me just throw a few bits of info & ideas into the conversation...

If specific parts are missing then I can pretty much guarentee they are not present in the mixdown on the mpc because it is impossible for the computer or usb to remove specific parts once they are all merged into one mashup of wave data.

When you say they are present on the mpc do you mean they are present when you press play and playback the sequences, or, do you mean once you've done the mixdown on the mpc then reloaded the mixdown file on the mpc then there are still present there?

If they are not present on the mixdown file on the mpc the 2 things which spring to mind are either you have some parts mapped to diffent outputs on the mpc (note resampling only records from the main outs and not outputs 1-8) or you have exhausted the machines polyphone (although I guess this is unlikely if it plays back normally when not resampling).

If it is actually high frequencies which are missing so that individual parts arent missing but the high end is missing then the only thing I can think of is that you might be resampling with a lowpass filter on. Or at a very very long shot there is some codec mismatch with you computer and the mpc but I think this is very unlikely since we are talking uncompressed wav data.

Finally, are you sure you are transfering the correct mixdown and not a previously recorded one, I know it's a stupid question but we all do things like that from time to time.

Good luck, I hope you find the problem.

after i read your post i went and loaded the mixed down songs
i reffered to and they are fine inside the mpc
but when i transfer it via usb the vocal sample and some of the instruments
are gone i know it sounds immposible but it is happening
and it only happens with certain beats
i will try to see if there are specific similarities between these beats
i have a pretty damn good grasp of my mpc
but this jus doesn't make sense!
thanx for your suggestions please keep'm coming
