mpc 2500 newbie

Hi all

Have just purchased an mpc 2500 & grabbed the kingston memory for the upgrade which is all good. All im looking to find out is that as a newbie the mpc has a bit of a steep learning curve & would like to find out if the ebook on mpc-samples is worth the investment. I have been into hip hop,soul,jazz funk since well too long to say the least & dj so know whats what with the tunes i wanna make & have a vast library of music to sample on vinyl & cd.


Hope you can fill me in a bit more as find the manual skips the basics to some degree which leaves me a bit in the dark mastering the mpc.

tutor makes learning very easy and enjoyable, according to all the posts and reviews i've read. if i were a beginner, i'd definitely buy the tutorial.

Realize that, if people talk about a "steep learning" curve, it usually means you can learn the machine very quickly. Which is true, if you're at least a little comfortable with modern electronics.

I don't want to sound like the "RTFM"-guy, but the manual really is a good place to start; especially if what you want to do is learn all the basics, in which I'd have to say the manual covers pretty well.

Ok thanx guys. Will sus the manual out a bit more then once ive got to grips with that will invest in the ebook if need be.


ive come up with a couple of beats so guess im starting to learn what the mpc can really do & not bad after a couple of days. I guess to master it will take a little time but so far results are good already.

Just an update really. Got the mpc ebook & all i can say learnt more in 5 mins than reading the manual. Teaches you loads of tricks which arent in the akai manual.

Here I go again

I have never read an MPC manual.....its so simple to use.

Record samples in the Sample Record menu..edit them in the Trim menu..assign the samples to pads in the program menu..assign a program to a track from the main menu..press record/play and beat on the pads. Simple.

its was the same for me as jerome i pulled the unit out of the box and starting getting it right away, and this is my 1st mpc that the reason i fell inlove with it just about all my other keyboards and equiptment i caught hell learning them.dont get me wrong though im still learning new things every week. but i cant believe how self explanitory the unit is with all the features it has
