For DJ's that use the MPC 1k integrated in thier set...

I'm fairly new to my MPC 1000 and I have been meaning to integrate into my DJ setup. I know that I can live sample my turntables on the MPC and assign them to a pad. My question is, is there any way to use the MPC 1000 as an effects processor? In otherwords, can I use the MPC like an EFX 500, where when mixing, take advanatage of the echo, phlange, etc?

My Setup:
2x 1200 Technics MK3
2x Shure 44-7
Rane TTM 56
Rane Serato Scratch Live
Akai MPC 1000

You can use the input through function. Plug your mixer's send channel into the mpc, then the mpc's output into your mixer's return, then route whatever channels to the box. Turn your mpc on, go into the mixer function, then input, then turn the input through on and choose which effect channel to route the input to, and pick a filter, then save the entire memory to return to whenever you need to. The MPC isn't the best box for this kind of thing, though, due to ther lack of proper real time control for the effects, and the fact that the effects, apart from the filters, aren't really designed to be altered in real time, and click a little when you try to with the data wheel. Dedicated effects like the Kaoss Pad offer much more in the way of hands on, realtime control, or even a sampler with lots of knobs on like the Korg ES1/ESX1. The MPC's effects, apart from the filter, which you can sweep to your heart's content with the Q-Links, are designed to be switched on and left as they are. Changing the delay time whilst something's playing on the MPC is painful. Do the same on something with more real time control, you'll get a fantastic tape delay emulated speed up/slow down. It can be done, just not very well.

Is it possible to route the effects out of one of the single outputs 1-4? I didn't find it, the effect signal always comes out of Stereo Output...

solder a 1/4 unbalanced cable to the end of the shure 44-7 and hit record then drop it on a record and you are good to go. the effects can only come out of the stereo out.

Why should I put a phono signal POP into the MPC Input?

are you using m44-7 needles? yeah i was just kiddin, dont solder cables to them. i guess you could if they werent being used with your 1200 mk3s. what kind of slip mats are you using. how much weight do you put on those needles
