Maybe someboody can help.

I have a sample which I've chopped in Recycle. I've exported it to 16Bit Wav and saved it as the original file name, i.e, name of the song.

Now I have about 40-50 chops in a folder on my desktop. Each one plays a different sample. Brilliant.

Ok, here's the problem. I start up my MPC, Hit Mode + Pad 2 to connect my MPC to my Mac. The HD shows up on my desktop. I transfer the folder with the chops to the MPC HD.

When I diconnect, try load the samples via Load (F1), I only have 4 samples there all playing only the first chop.

Whats going on here??

Thanks

Your filesnames are probaly to long or they contain some symbols that the mpc doesn't read correct. I've had similar problems. I don't know if they corrected it in the last update though. I remember the "_"/underscore being problematic, but I'm guessing it's all those sort of symbols that it can't read properly.

try batch renaming the files to something shorter with only letters and numbers

so This_F*ck*n_Awesome_Sample_01 becomes ThisAweSamp01

Both you are absolutely right. My file names were too long.

I think the mpc pads can only store names with 14 characters. My numbering of samples was not within 14 so the mpc wasn't recognising them

Seeing as how the OS for the 2500 and 1000 are pretty similar, I would say the size limit on file names is 16 characters. also you should be able to use symbols with no problem as long as you stick with only the ones you can pull up in the MPC naming section itself. (just get into a MPC menu and try renaming anything, when you have the first position to edit flashing, roll the Data Wheel and watch what symbols show up until you've gone through all the possible symbols; anything not available in that list should not be used to name a sample on your PC if you intend to import it into your MPC....)
