I just bought my mpc 4 days ago

I really need some help,,,

so here is my problem!

I am trying to record from the mpc to my computer

I don't have a mixer, only my computer

Ive been trying some stuff but it seems that it aint working

any good idea plz

your post is too vague. please explain what you have tried, what you expected to happen, and what actually happened.

I tried to connect the mpc to my computer,,,

so I can press rec on acid,adobe audition or something,,,

and what I will do on the mpc will be recorded in any of those programs,,

so far,

I only connected it with some midi thing to the usb on my computer

and Im using the mpc with reason 3,

but I want to be able to use the sounds in the mpc to record on my computer

I hope someone understands this :s

nope, but I was just trying anything,

so it would be nice if anyone could actually tell me what to do, plz

first off, AUDIO and MIDI are totally different forms of information. they have seperate pipes they flow through. so AUDIO information is never passed over MIDI cables. EVER.

if you want to use your MPC sounds IN your computer, you will need to get the Audio from the MPC into the computer. simplest way is to connect the Main Outputs of the MPC to your computer Line In/Mic input jack.

if you also have the MIDI correctly hooked up, you can sequence the MPC in the computer. all you are doing in this case is playing the pads on the MPC and how you performed is recorded, not the sound. then you can tweak your performance on the computer. the computer will be sending MIDI info back to the MPC to recreate a performance. eventually when things sound good, you record the AUDIO of the MPC into the computer as the computer sends MIDI to control the performance playback.

it's pretty simple really, just experiment and try different things out.

if you record the midi information, it will record your beats and sequences but not the sounds. you could use a program like reason to record the midi and then you'd have to recreate your sounds in reason.

reason cannot record audio though, which would be easier and probably better for you.

just to reiterate: the MIDI workflow is all about recording Performance Data, not actual Audio waveforms. neither method is better. Performance Data is just 'how you played', ie you hit pad 16 at this point of the loop at this velocity. the MIDI can allow for more experimentation, ie, recording a beat pattern and then going back and changing the kick drum sound, trying different combinations of hats and snare, whatever. with a recorded Audio waveform, to go back and take the Kicks out and replace it with a new one is practically impossible. (read: a real pain in the A$$ even if technically possible in some cases).

you will probably want to figure out how to record MIDI and Audio information so you can use the best of both worlds when necessary....

umm maybe. but if you want to work in software, you should get get the pads that connect to your computer instead of an MPC, maybe? i like working with the MPC and doing everything on it so i can keep my computer screen turned off and my hand off the mouse

yeah that's the reason why I got me a mpc,, cause I get tired spending alot of time on the computer,,,, ,,

but hey it's all coming together

I have a program that sends .wav's to my s900 through MIDI cables, it's not a myth I've seen it.
