Insufficient Memory when slicing?

Whatupdoe,

I just got a 1K the other day and after watching a tutorial of slicing online I tried it and it said insufficient memory...so, the next day I bought a 1GB Compact Flash Memory and popped it in and still the same thing. Ok so do I ned to upgrade and buy that 129mb RAM that I see everywhere?

Also is there anything else Im going to need besides memory? I hate this back and forth running to stores to buy sh*t.

the mpc loads everything into the ram. so yeah you probably want to get the 128 mb upgrade. and you dont neccisarily need the akai brand. theres a thread about it somewhere on here.

i suggest picking up the hard drive adapter and a hard drive. the adapter is like 30 bucks and the hd is by gb. i got a 60gb hd for 50 bucks i think. put the cf cards in the drawer and havent looked back. with the hd you can record and store tons of sample material and take it with you if you travel.

Well I have a WD 250 Gb for school purposes, can I use that? Where can I grab the adapter you are talking about?

You're gonna want a 2'5" hd to get it to fit into the mpc. "Regular" hd like the ones you probbably have on your mainstream/stationary computer is to big to fit.

You don't really need alot og Gb...I have 60Gb on my 2500 and I don't think I'll be able to used to that up in a while and I sample alot.

exactly what nito said. the 2.5" hd is just a laptop hard drive. so if your 250 is from a desktop, its not going to fit. you can grab the adapter from guitar center, or order it from akai, and i think that vst place that advertises on this forum has them. i think the nomenclature is the hd-10.

Oh...so you guys are talking about me installing an internal....bc I was saying that my Western Digital HD is external and I hook it up to just about every cpu that I have. Just thought that would work but I'll take a trip to my local music store.

the 1k cant take advantage of an external. so yeah, it would have to be an internal. also, hit up the computer chain store, like best buy or circuit city for the hd itself.

A HD won't help you with that slicing problem, it's just like the compact flash for saving purpose only.

You will need to upgrade your internal memory, cause that's what your mpc uses while you are working.
