Best drum sound EVER MADE.

yeah its played out, but it's the most sampled break EVER, so c'mon, i mean of course it's played out, how can it not be? BUT....even MORE played out than the amen break is the folk remix of a well-known rap song...."sippin on gin and tractor oil, laid back, with my plaid on my leather and my milkin on my mind". i started sampling a lot of stuff of AM radio. Coast to Coast = mad funk.

as I read the title of this post I didn't know that you guys meant which machine creates the best sound. I thought ya'll was talking about which songs has them.
if that were the case I would had said(don't laugh folks) ... the snare from micheal jackson's billie jean... its one of the few drums sound ever made that we can tell which song is coming on from the very 1st beat...
now as far as the war of machines goes I think we give way too much credit to the hardware devices and software programs . its not just the machine that will give incredible sounds but its the MAN using it. I hate to think that most of us are even using preset factory patches without additional tweaking. if thats the case I might as well throw my roland jv 10/10 out the window bcuz of the fact siwzz beats raped it for most of the dope presets. Well the point I'm trying to make is tweak, layer, eq, do whatever the hell you gotta do to shape and design your sound for drums, bass, keys etc.
a producer friend of mine won't go near reason bcuz of it "weak drums" but if I layed drums down with it, he'll be the first one to admit how hard i made them knock. I just hate it the most when I hear a beat and can tell what gear a dude use to make it. thats horrible in my opinion. i feel like that cat aint put enough elbow grease to made it sound unique.
I know I got a little off topic but I had to get that off my chest. you guys debating about drum machines inspired me to.

the worst drum sound ever is the kick from that jay-z and usher song titled 'anything you want' from the kingdom come album. that joint sounds like the worst example of digital distortion.

I just had an MC 909 like you said its how you use and tweak the sounds. I sold it and got the MD-UW and an MPC1000. I miss it but some aspects I don't. Nice screen(custom .gifs) and expandable with srx cards. Some cheese for internal sounds imho but tweakable. Knobs are nice to grab. Arpegiator is pretty cool. Lots of memory I think you can put an old 512ram chip and get it to have a total of 384megs of internal sampling time. I like the umpff in the mpk1 or I suppose most mpcs have that signature sound. I am new to the Akai line and love the jj os thus far.
