mixer question

I have never used a mixer before but am interested in buying one. One question though: is it possible to hookup the mixer to the mpc and change the eq setting for sounds without having the mixer hooked up to anything else. In other words, does the mixer have to connect to the computer or something else or can it just be hooked up back into the mpc and change the sounds inside the mpc?

it depends on what kind of mixer you get and how you route the audio. there should be mixers that do what you want, for example, just a simple regular analog mixer: you can have the 4 outputs and the main outsof the MPC going into the mixer, EQ the different channels, and have one of the main/ctrl/tape outputs hooked back to the record in on the MPC.

What's the point of doing that,since mpc can either only Play or Record?
I'm not being picky at all,maybe I'm missing something and don't know about this technique...

you can use the analog mixer to do different EQ on the MPC 4 outs, say to fatten the bass and lock in on the hats, then have the main mix going back into the REC IN on the MPC. when in REC mode you hit the play button, then choose REC and the MPC will record the EQ'd version of your tracks.

the point is this is what tjeleno asked if a mixer and MPC could be made to do.....
