Nym, I just hope you dont want to make em made of dimonds or gold, since sometimes the extra month of work provides little benefit. Remember the laws of marginal utility.
I'm sure your pad solution is good as it is, but will wait some more as I'm occupied with other things.

On a different note, if anyone starts a petition, I'll be more than happy to sign it. Afterwards maybe complain to a better business bearau or somethin.
In the end though, I just want better pads and wont buy a single AKAI product ever again

Akai is not a member of the Better Business Beurau.
I've made a complaint to them 2 years ago about something entirely different... and I gotta say is that the Rhode Island BBB are even sh!ttier than Akai.

Yeh I diy modular so no issue at all...come to think of it here is a hot idea, add some drum trigger outs for each pad!! Maybe ill even do this myself. Would love to fire off modular drum patches with the MPC. Like CGS cynare.

Ausralia, repping **** up pads to the fullest. i spoke to guy in a place called Logitronics in melbourne he can fix mpcs in a week . Im going to have to do it. My jog wheels spins randomly, my buttons are breaking and ive moved them round so the main ones work well but its getting silly and then the pads........ Will prob cost me about $400 but I cant wait any longer its basically unuseable. Just spent a day mxing down a beat dropped teh vocals in on it and it was out of time, th ejog wheel had bumped teh tempo of a point. Ive lost beats saving in the wrong folder cos its bumped too.

mreilly - jog wheel malfunctions seem really serious but are actually really easy to fix yourself if you have the part (or a workable alternative). it's frustrating as hell, though, i had that problem once a year ago.

i hope you can get a better price than 400. good luck on that, but do what you got to do.

yeah, absolutely. it appears that i'll mostly be shipping out kits, but i can definitely still do it myself too.

seriously, I would LOVE a new pad design with raised pad, and i'd like to see an OS with mtc for free and that i actually could use for live use as the jj 3.06 sucks at that area.

the main idea here is to get pads that are so soft that laying your finger against them triggers a hit below 5.

however, you run the risk of making all the pads so sensitive that the minute tremors that go through the mpc when you strike it doesn't register OTHER pads at low velocities.

i will not tolerate "haunted pads" which register contact when a fat man walks by.

mreilly - watch those fools at logitronics, i hadda reeeal bad experience with those suckas...

they are defintely proficient (just not efficient). i got told a week to fix
mine as well and i didn't get it back for 8 months!!!

make sure you keep on their case or nothing will happen. they're hella
busy as a rule so shit gets shelved and forgotten. they lost my booking
number twice and pretty much forgot about it.

8 months? Thanks man. Not an option. Will see if I can get the part from these other dudes and do it myself if its easy. I had a look at it, couldnt really see how to do it will look again. Ill get a few buttons too. Ill wait for the old "no 3" for the pads.

not being a trust issue just a worry issue... i was wondering, how long would you say #1 would work decently for?

depending on use, probably a month, but i was straight ROUGH on mine. ask Distorted how his are still holding up.
