New to Production

I am new to production and I have been using Fl for a lil bit but I was thinking of getting a mpc 500 do you guys think this a good choice for a new producer or get a mpd16 and stick with FL

get the MPD24 and download the demo of Ableton Live... or else find a used MPC1000 in good condition.

i use fl studio (7 now). i also have the mpc 1k. i think it depends on what you want to do. if i use fl, i will usually sequence the drums via midi with the mpc and fpc. record the midi performance and go from there. if you got the dough, get the mpc. if your strapped, save for an mpc. sometimes its good to get away from the computer and get another aspect of creating.

just my thoughts...

oh, and when buying gear, think of what you might want to do in the future. the reason is that you might be able to get something you dont need now, but will in a few months.

personally I think mpc 500 is not worth the money.
save for something else,different model of MP.
and by the way,quit software sequencing for some time - try using just the machine when you get one,and you will notice the nice difference hopefully

i couldnt agree with that statement more. your sw sequencing will change once you use hw.

FL is not a bad program at all.... thats all i use right now, the only reason im getting an MPC is cuz FL is getting a lil boring, time to try somethin new...

but if u really dig deep and really learn FL, there is absoutly no need for the mpc, i dont need one, but like i said i wana try somethin new... if i was u i wud use FL for a couple years first..

Tell me you didnt just say that...if you want to get anywhere, if you want to make the paper you have to cop an mpc, that's it, that is the foundation, that's the soul man...if not good luck with those bedroom beats...

as much as I hate to adimt it its true. its all about who is using it. I heard some serious banging tracks done on FL by cats who knew what they were doing and I heard alot of bull done by a bunch of wanna be's. I mean come'on a mpc in the wrongs hands could be downright sad.
I think b4 you spend any money become familiar with a little bit of everything sw/hw and see what you like. that way you know all your options and you will be happy with your setup bcuz you know what your needs are and wont be one of those cats on ebay selling everything they have to get more stuff just to sell it again. its like all those cats who waste money buying mpc's bcuz of word of mouth and are disappointed bcuz they thouugh it had sounds in it already, bottom line just go out ,ask question, try out and see what you like I love the mpc 2000xl but I bet a million people on this forum will swear by a 1000/2500 and beyond. learn as much as you can as far as why and not just what when it comes to gear and build your own cpnvictions and if it works for you nobody can tell you that you are wrong for using this or that

Tell ME, you didn't just say that. Lots of money to be made in music production with no mpc involved at all. You gotta be joking right?

it's not the tools, it's the person using them.....

ask yourself: Am I comfortable with my beats just using FL?

Do I get a good reaction from a variety of people in regards to the beats I make using FL?

Am I satisfied with all aspects of percussion/drums when it comes to FL?

If you answered no to any of these questions and you like to dig for records then save for an MPC, matter of fact if look hard enough you can get a used 2000 for cheap.
