Can they? I wanna sample something, then i believe if i have a midi keyboard, i can have it started on c3, and it automatically pitch shifts for every key... this make any sense? I dont know what its called, thanks

Do you mean similar to Variphrase type shifting?

i dunno... i guess i wanna sample, put that sample on the C key on a midi controller, then automatically have c# be the sample pitched up 1

yeah the 2000XL and MPC series are not really meant to do that. although you can with some basic functionality on the 2000XL, by hitting AUTO in the program menu.

i never use it since i have a yamaha a4000 that i really like and does that kinda stuff automatically, and has 16 part multi-timbral operation. that and a 16 part synth and I'm in good shape

16 Level? If you set 16 level on a pad, then the keyboard should play it scaled up and down on different keys... Its just a setting for any pad's sample. Most MPCs do this.

The MPC4000 can do this
but you can also get a mpc2000xl with a Akai S3000XL
the 3000xl does that easily

why I say the S3000xl is that it is cheap
