Its obvious that the MPC 25000 was based off of the 1000. It led many to believe that they are/were exactly the same internally.

However, this new JJ OS is starting to show something differently. JJ added the 300,000 note capacity to the 1000, but had to remove a feature:

The number of notes of a sequence is changed into 300,000 notes.
Since the NOTE number increased, it became impossible to save a sequence to an internal memory.
 Loading is not made, either.

It doesn't appear that this is the case with the MPC 2500.

Has the 1000 reached its full potential? Or was this just a way to give its users a 'quik fix'?

Feel free to give your input...

the mpc2500 doesn't offer qlink control of midi ccs,

easy answer to this - how big is the space on both machine onto which the os is written/run?

we've seen that the processors are the same, the ram is the same, hard drive specs, etc etc so the difference would have to lie in the flash rom if it exists.

You know that features are beta tested on the 1000 first and then added to the MPC 2500

So if the the processors are the same, the ram is the same, hard drive specs, etc etc....that would mean (assuming) that the addition of qlink control of midi ccs (more on this later) in the MPC 2500 JJ OS will result in features being removed? (reminder that the MPC 2500s OS has code for the additional Q-link knobs as well as CD playing, sampling, loading, and burning...plus the additional outputs).

Or if we are just talking about the 1000..does adding any additional functions to this OS will be eventually losing the entire Flash ROM? Or will that mean less sample time or total sequencer memory? (I don't know....for conversation purposes only :D ).

Now with the CC control? I really haven't looked much into it at all with an MPC. Using my digital Mixer, I can control (if I want) levels, panning, effects, etc on my external synths. Does the MPC 1000 perform in a similar fashion? Do you use these functions? Would you care to take the time (or point to the thread) where you discuss this feature?

do you have an mpc 1000?

I use cc's from the 1000 all the time to record and sequence control changes sent to my TC electronic effects processor all the time. - Just for the record like..........

I found the CC section in the 1000 online manual......

Ok...Recording CC changes in a sequence in nothing new. But using the Q-links for CC changes was only previously available on the MPC 4000.

Now what sort of CC messages do you send to your effects processor using the two Q-link sliders of the 1000? Do you care to give an example of how you use it? (a mini tutorial..if you will).

Ok - Only started doing this in the past few weeks - but found myself doing it more and more - gets me pretty good effects, mainly using delay fluctuations on certain elements of a track (or tracks) in a sequence.

So - set up is the 1000 Midi out to TC Electronic M300 Midi in.

Midi Clock is transmitted to the M300 so the delay settings will all be tempo synced to the sequence running (although you can have variations of timing of the delay using the timing knob on the front of the unit)

I make a long repetitive sequence in the 1000 (i'm mostly making minimal Techno) - say about 50 bars or so and basically mess about with the q-links to record delay timing (control change number 17) fluctuations on the timing of the delay - sending it off beat or on beat or any kind of subtle jiggery pokery in between.

You can also mess about with the Feedback and Depth (control change number 18) of the delay too.

This obviously can then be edited in the MPC itself - although i like the "live" feeling of the recorded movements - give the track a whole more kinda human feel - because although Techno is in itself repetitive - this helps kinda "stick" a track together if used nice and subtly on certain instruments in a sequence.

Hope makes sense - not at my MPC now - and a little stoned here - so please forgive me!

Oh - forgot to mention that i have the MPC using all its outputs into a Yamaha O1v, Audio is sent to the M300 through the 01v auxilliary sends and the M300 return is coming back into its own return channel on the O1v, enabliing me to blend the returned effect signal into the dry MPC signal. Makes for good rythmical shifting of timings in real time.

I'm also looking into recording mix change CC events with the Qlinks for automation of the 01v - but still not tried it yet

^^^ I got my MPC synced to my Lexicon MPX 200, so I definitely gotta assign CC's to it as you're doing with your M300. Since i produce techno as well and often use delay effects, this method would suit me even better than just plain old syncing. I honestly forgot about the CC's in the Q-links, since I've been so busy with alot of other things. Thanks for pointing that out! :)
