Insufficient Memory!

OK, so I just bought my AKAI MPC2500 and i am curious as to how i stop this error from popping up whenever i go to "Trim" and try to do anything to my samples, literally....anything. Even if i try to delete a sample, "Insufficient Memory!". I am new to this product so go easy on me. I have the 128MB card that came with it and it says "Sound Library" but I'm not sure if that is the actual memory expander. Somebody please help me! I am desperate to start using this piece of equipment. Basically, is there any way i can clear my memory or expand the internal memory?

i had to buy the 128 ram seperate and install it myself. Are u sure the 128 actually came with yours? did u buy it new or used? Even if u got the 128 or not that shouldn't be happening unless your sample too long.

*EDIT* Where did you buy your upgrade? I'm going to call guitar center tomorrow. If you could, link me to the EXACT upgrade chip i need for my MPC-2500. Kinda lame how this thing cost me $2000 and all the sudden i need an immediate upgrade...just seems kind of like a scam to me...

yeah i feel u... just go to guitar center and ask, they usually got plenty in stock, they'll know exactly what your talkin' bout matter of fact they shoulda already recommended the 128 ram to you in the first place. also see if they got any deals on a bigger CF card too, I only got the standard 32mb but I'm looking to expand so I can record a whole song from vinyl to the MPC, then USB it to my laptop.... the 2500 will read up to 2 gigs on the CF card.

Didn't you know what you were getting into before buying the unit? It's like buying a car, then being mad that it doesn't have LCD screens in the headrests.... Nonetheless, the official ram upgrade is the Akai EXM128. Or you can just get some 3rd party ram like everyone else is doing. Personally, I'd go official, but it's completely up to you; it's your MPC.

yeah get the official mem, then i wont feel so bad about spending all that cash on it, when everyone else is getting theirs for cheap.



when you start the MPC it loads some internal sounds (presets). so you can stop MPC from doing this in the load menu. may free some mem up in the meantime.

You dont need the upgrade to make beats. It comes stock with 16mb and that is definately sufficient.

I dont think its a scam, 2000 for an mpc is a good deal. If you didnt want to spend that then you should have gotten a mpc1000 or a used mpc2000xl/mpc2000

well you could always set the mpc to not autoload the samples to memory. and discared samples from memory you loaded but arent useing on pads.

and i think you have the memory confused with the flash card that the machine came with.

Flash is for storage only, doesnt give you more memory to load samples for playback.

what you need to do if these above dont work is go buy a compatible 256 sodimm from a computer store and install it. 128 megs of ram, you should never max that out. if you do, your doing something wrong, or should have aloaded 4000.

Plus I was thinking that 128mb is more of a luxury. You can still get by with 16mb no problem, you just have to manage your usage.

cyrus...how do you get by with 16MB? I can't even edit my 5 second sample and i just bought this thing 5 days ago. I can't even delete the sample it says i don't have enough memory.

sp 12 users are shaking their heads right now.... you have to record small samples, like one bar. it's been done before, but like I said just copp the akai EXM 128 mb ram and you'll be alright... don't worry about the CF I was just giving additional information.

man i aint upgraded mine and i sample with no problems its only when iv loaded up to many drums samples etc u sure u aint got the demo loading up on ur mpc cus that could be why plus ur samples and if ur getting cf cards try amazon there cheap i got my 1gb from there also ebay do come for like £10-15 if u look on there alot
unless uv got the change then go to guiter center but i would say buy online unless ur gettin the EXM 128mb then buy that in the store, waiting for mine in the post i got it fo £24

I've had my 2500 for about a year now (i think), and i still have the stock 16mb in my unit. I've been doin just fine.
