MORE THAN 24 PRGMS??!!!!

Why the hell are we limited to 24 programs??? That seems like an easy fix software wise. Should be 99, so you could have a differnt program for every sequence if you wanted, no? JJ, what are the chances?

first yes it would be good to get more, especially for when i do lives shows! it would so much nicer to have more...

but jj is not responsible for giving us 24pgms akai is.

are you taking full advantage of the programs?
ie, pad banks (although i never use anything past A)
velocity layers (HUGE time savers especially with small really small chops)
and so on

The thing is, I do live sets, need tons of sounds. It would just be nice to have the prgm contain only the samples relevant to it, and I have lots of little patches, that way it would be less confusing when looking to mute tracks as to what exactly is being played from the prgm. I have way more than 24 drumkits alone, not to mention synth patches out the yin yang!

yeah i see how that would be a pain in such a setting. if there can be more programs put into the mpc, i don't see why not, unless the space could be better used elsewhere.

it gets convoluted but consider using the pad banks more, combine 3 or 4 drum kits into 1...

also say you have a 16 sample synth loop, on pads 1 - 16
you could set those to layer 1, and set the qlinks so those only play when your qlink is at the top level...you could use the bottom 3 layers and respective qlink positions to play 3 other loops/whatever all in the same program - in the same pad bank, in fact.

i see what youre saying nym but for live use....man that's 24 programs, at 4 banks each, 16 pads with 4 layers each, you're talking trying to remember how you mapped out over 6000 samples in what is usually a stressful situation!

actually i think having that many samples available would be plenty for a live show, but i like to improvise with my group, and that's where it's nice to have a bunch of kits loaded and available to dial through.... or when working on a live song, trying to find the right kicks and snares, it's easier to have them all preloaded to go through, and the 24 program limit can really cramp that kinda flow......

1536 samples in 24 pgms. 6336 samples in 99 pgms. 63936 samples in 999 pgms. 63936*4.7 = ~300,000. 1536*195.3 = ~300,000.

we all just need to send jj some of our 1200 sample 90,000 note masterpieces and im sure he'd up the pgms in the next revision. he just needs to know the real demand.

150 pgrms would be very nice

in some projects i use pgrms for ex. automatic lfos changes,
i think there is no other way to change lfo settings on 64 pads in MORE than one pgm at once while playing - is it??

I would love more than 24 pgms. I like to set my pgms up according to the GM drum map. So if I want to use a vst along with samples on my mpc it's no problem. Easier to layer inside the mpc or with vsts, change a whole kit on the fly, etc. The workflow is just great that way. So putting more than 1 kit in a pgm is not an option for me.

yes, more than 24 progs would be helpful to me as well....

its all about the live/jam context where you dont want to ever have to stop the beat and load more stuff.
