All in all the JJ updates for the 2500 have been very minimal compared to the 1k.

Mainly because the MPC 2500 already had numerous features that were not possible in the 1000s OS.

i'm going to keep using the official akai OS until everything that was in the akai OS is implemented accurately in the JJ OS.

Wow...I am about to actually say something nice about this OS  There is very little that Akai OS has that the JJ OS doesn't.

1. Direct recording and continuous same ple tracks was removed/replaced with 8 tracks of audio recording.

2. Saving to flash rom was remvoved but functions like additional sequencer memory and global program edit has been added.

3. Burning CDs from hard drive or CF card, directly to CD has been removed, but burning audio from samples in memory is still possible. Loading and sampling from CDs is still possible with the JJ OS.

4. Locate functions were removed (forget that this is there most of the time) but functions like then you get simult sequencing or simult playing of pads.

5. Auto phrase loop has been removed, but replaced with several additional features for sampling/sample editing...like stereo chopping, and real-time pitch shifting.

i got the 2500 in addition to the 1k, but later found out it didnt actually have an os to match that of the 1k.

 No response is necessary....

The major differences are listed in this thread as well as on the JJ OS site.

I bought it the other day and it's great. Like everyone else has been saying, the chopping feature is well worth the money by itself.

I was referring to maintenance not features.
The 1k O.S. required a lot more debugging than the 2500.
This was the reason I laughed in another thread where you said they test things out on the 1k.

without continuous sample what happens if you mute/unmute a track that has a looped sample? does the sound start/stop exactly when you hit mute/unmute? can you trigger pads from the audio tracks? how does that work?

The 2500 is really starting to feel like a replacement for the XL.
If you put larger feet on it to absorb the vibrations of the bottom panel it even feels like a better built machine.

True that. I like the Idea about putting larger feet on it too. Think I'll do that. Good Look

If you wanna get an accurate figure of how many people on this site have bought the jj os, ya need to put the survey outside the jj os forums. Most people here will obviously have it or be close to getting it.

Wus up folks! New to the forum, some great insight and some truley creative peeps in here. Anyway kinda new to the mpc game. Im tryin to work out some kinks. Trying to figure a more proficient way to accessing my drum libraries, be nice to just boot them up all at once if possible. Couple questions 1. Where do I find more specific info on the JJ OS, like actual website 2. anybody know what hard drive(s) will fit the 2500 and is this the best solution to a readily available drum library. I realize there may be many resolutions but im set on exploring multiple possibilities. Any input on either ?'s would be greatly appreaciated. thanks. peace.

Just bought a 2500 today due to my 1k been a total piece of crap and bin worthy after 2yrs. Im deciding now whether to buy this I paid for it on the 1k but the 3.05 seems to pretty much cover all the features i want. Is there a saving bug with it or something? A little is always lost in google translation.....

That's my favourite improvement!!! Suppose it takes a bit of getting used to, give it a couple of weeks and let me know if you still feel the same way....the vertical zoom is a god send!
