i'm still not 100% convinced that jj isn't an akai crony, i think this could be a new business venture for them, make the OS so bad and bug ridden, that when ghetto superstar akai-funded programmer comes up with bug free, feature filled new os, people will pay for it, and akai can just count the dollars mounting up. i'm not saying this is what i believe, but it's there at the back of my mind, niggling away.

if that's the case, that's totally fine, at least there's actual progress being made. despite the buzz about jj os, the majority of 1k users never hear about it, which makes me really puzzled as to why the hell akai would release it as such a clandestine operation (biglobe.jp?) you'd think that akai would want to claim credit for releasing os upgrades, rather than let the vast feedback online read that "jj os blows akai os out of the water"

edit, not to mention sales...say 500 users purchased the os (i'm not even sure if it's that high), that's $1,5000 to akai. if akai is as you said, watching the $ mount up, we're talking peanuts. HOWEVER, if that was turned around and put into software design sht would pay for itself. not to mention that akai would without a doubt turn around and put the newest JJakai os into the 3500, or whatever remodelled 2000xl they're gonna put out next

as of now i'm actively making a distinction between akai, nukai, and JJakai. pop quiz - which of the three hears/acts on what its customers say? across google translate, no less.

so that's somewhat of an answer regarding the OS. what about service manuals? what do they have to gain by keeping those so quiet?

will do, i'm not sure there'll be a part number on there, but i'll find out a compatible one, and post it up here at some point.

and then STOPPED with the mpc1000.
the service manuals are only in pdf form now, in the hands of akai technicians such as VST.

Maybe it's the same deal as all those classified/censored government documents -- the contents are simply too scandalous!
