I am a fairly new MPC2000 user running version 1.7 os.

I am trying to link my Novation Drumstation to the MPC via Midi in order to trigger the drum sounds off of the MPCs pads, but having read the manual I am having no luck.

The manual says that if you are merely trying to connect to another soundsource there is no need to set the channel, but beyond that I am in the dark and don't really know what to do.

I have connected:

MPC: Midi in
Drumstation: Midi out

Any suggestions would be much appreciated....

I really never heard of that one, but I am no expert nor do I use novation Drumstation however I onced used a mpc with propellarhead Reason in similar fashion. I would recomend setting the mpc to a midi channel ( the same channel that the track in novation you are recording to is set to) or the mpc will only plays as a drum machine /sampler triggering all the sounds loaded to the ram and not as a controller , dude I could be wrong but try it let me know if it works

first. think about your setup.

you are trying to control the drumstation with your MPC.

the control signal is MIDI.

so you want to go from the MPC to the drumstation.

midi OUT of the MPC to the MIDI IN of the drumstation

also check the MPC manual, it has examples and helpful information
