Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

i've been making beats for a few years now. i started on a cheap drum machine, but currently use a Korg Karma. it's a great keyboard which i use live, but the sequencer isn't really the best for drums. it's good for recording keyboard parts and triggering midi, but my drums usually sound kind of robotic.
i like the beats that i hear that have been made on an mpc, and was curious what is different or better about the sequencer and also is the sequencer just as good for triggering external MIDI sounds.
i figured this would be the best place to get user opinions.
thanks.

it cant be beat, just for the simplicity and control alone. if anything just cop a 2000 for $600 on eBay (not the XL) and give it a try.

yea u right. i see lotta headz jump str8 for the xl. i guess it depends on the person. but as long at the pads there im str8. i aint trippin. the mpc suprised me when i got it and learned how to twerk the joint. it wont come out mechanical cause you beatin the drums out yaself. not like you programmin em in step.

it allows u to be creative.

i just started to produce, and the mpc secuencer is the shit man! It is user friendly. i like it better than the triton classic.

well the sequencer is very simple and self explanatory. and with the song mode feature you can bang a track out in no time.

its tight cos internally it relies on quartz clock or somink......so no serial processing- everything hits where you want it to....

To name a few:
