Umm...the 1000 has USB as well. What exactly do you think you would gain in terms of sample backup by buying a 2500?

don't by the 2500 cause you think there won't be bugs that delete your files.

I havethe mpc since 2 month, normally I produce tracks on pc, so the mpc is only for my live-act. So I have to rebuild all my tracks I play on party (electronic music), two tracks got killed (the sequences) 2 weeks ago, had no backup until then. Only saved on compact flash card...
No I got a harddrive too, yesterday, 4 hours before the party, my "all sequences"-sequences (my tracks one after another, just edited the ending and beginning of tracks) couldn't be loaded: "end of file", once again. I don't know what's that, I payed 1500 Euro for a hardware which ever kills my music ^^
The funny thing, I wanted to load the sequence ( from harddrive) to backup on compact flash... and then it was killed. I only had the sencond part of my set in backup... so I had to rebuild this set once again, which was not mcuh, cause I only had to load track after track and edit a little bit. But it was fukked up.

And my "main"-button don't work very well, have to push harder. And I really don't push hard on buttons and so on... really disappointing.
I really like the mpc, but all that's a little bit shitty, think I have to mail to akai the "end of file"-error... don't know how it happens...

the 2500 is feels alot better than the 1000 overall, in my opinion. the pads are larger and softer unlike the stiff pads on the 1000, you have the flip lcd screen which is so much more convenient, the usb connection allows you to go to the main screen after downloading from pc/ mac w/ out have to unplug the usb cable as you do w/ the 1000, it's a bit bigger than 1000 making the work flow more comfortable, you have the option to install the cdr drive to load from and burn cd's, you have a bit more features as well such as chopshop. the os seems to be in great shape as far as my 2500 is concerned. i've owned the 2000xl, 1000, and 2500, and i say the 2500 is an excellent machine, hands down.

Visit a Guitar Center or something then. Read a review or two. We're not salesmen.
