autochopping in the os 3.06

Heey what up everyone?

I have the os 3.06 on my mpc 1000, but i have no idea how to use the ''autochop'' function on the mpc. I thought autochop meant, that the mpc wil automatically chop the samples and detect the start and endpoint by itself?
