ZIP ID when CD ROM and HD connected.

I have the following setup:

An MPC 2000 connected to a small case/tower(like the stuff they sell on scsiforsamplers.com) that has a SCSI HD on ID 5 and a CD ROM drive on ID 0.


It looks exactly like this one.It has one selector(0-7) for the ID.Nr.5 is selected.So i guess i can only select the ID for the HD.

Yesterday i ordered an external Zip drive for my MPC and a IDE ZIP drive for my PC to exchange data.
The blue connector on the right side is connected with the MPC using an SCSI (DB25 Male to Centronics 50-pin Male) cable that i got with that set.

How do i hook up the SCSI ZIP drive on my setup?

The SCSI devices, like the CDROM and ZIP have two SCSI ports right?? So go from one to the other using cables, LOOK in the manual because there are limits on how long each cable should be in a SCSI chain. As long as each device has a unique ID you will be fine. You will just have to connect each one to each other while the original device, whatever you choose, connects directly to the MPC. BEFORE you get started do a search on "Blown SCSI fuses" and you will be educated on WHAT NOT TO DO. So read first and then connect.

MPC|------||------||------|fyi your SCSI chain must be terminated to close off the connections. Just a little figure that may help.

Now from reading the posts and the FAQ on the tutor i already know that i shouldnt connect or disconnect any drives or wiggle with the cables because that would blow the fuse......but i've also viewed posts where people have replied that wrong connecting can send the fuse to hell to.
Thats why i dont want to experiment.

Now should i connect the Zip on the HD/CD rom tower that i have or the tower on the ZIP?
Cause the lil tower has 2 drives in it, and it connects with the MPC with one cable.
I opened the tower and it seems that the drives(HD/CDROM) are connected with the same scsi cable, just like on the PC with a IDE-HD-CD ROM)
If you look at the pic theres two plugs on the back for the SCSI.I'm using one to connect the tower to the MPC.So should i plug the ZIP drive on the other free port?
Or plug the Zip on the MPC and then the HD/CDROM tower on the ZIP drive?
Oh, and how do i terminate them?So far everythings running perfect, so would that mean that if i put the tower at the end of the chain again it would be terminated?

Items to the way you want them setup, then make sure the last device has a termination switch because otherwise you wouldn't be able to terminate unless it was an option on that device. I "might" be wrong, but I think you can buy a terminator but I wouldn't worry about that unless NONE of the devices offer termination.
