you think an mpc500 would fit inside a clarinet case if i re-foamed it?

someone here must have an old clarinet around. i gave mine away :(

yeah i saw that. i make DIY cases all the time, but i prefer to use older stuff that is usually cheaper and has stood the test of time.

if i were to buy something though i'd probably buy:

oh yeah they are almost a dime a dozen. i'm just not 100% sure the 500 will fit inside

I have one here. It might work, but it'll be a pretty tight fit. I have old clarinet shaped foam in mine which I can't remove without destroying, so it is hard to say for sure, but width and depth look okay.

It's just in terms of height, you only get maybe 3mm clearance at either the top or bottom. That probably won't matter once you get proper foam to accommodate the depth, but right now if I try to close it, the top pushes the MPC out a bit.

that looks great. i would take all the original foam out and put my own foam in, and hopefully keep that nice plush lining ;)
