Help...getting Munchkin Voices when Transferring Audio Files

for some reason songs files and audio that i'm transferring over to the mpcs internal hard drive sound like munchkin voices when i preview them through the load screen., i've got an 80gig hard drive in the mpc 1000 and I put 7 gigs of sample material on it. so i'm scrolling through the material and each song sounds all sped up superfast. when I connect the mpc through the usb port to the computer and play the songs through itunes they sound fine, they're just wav files.
anybody have this problem and no the cure?

Check the samplerate of your samples. Could be a mismatch, if they aren't
44.1 kHz

MPC won't even play non 44.1k/16 bit.

I don't know why the hell I didn't think of that but thank you very much
