could someone please explain to me this whole "swing"?

ya know...the 1/16, 2/16 etc setting option....I always lay down my tracks on whatever the mpc is set to........Im recently doing alot of hip hop and was wondering what set is best? I am very sorry if this is a stupid question, but being a rookie to the game I have yet to have studied this aspect. Thanks very much to all......always appreciated. Glance

You should be cool at a 1/16 with a 60% swing. Play with it to see what you like.

The swing function moves the even beats a few ticks. You can see what it does in seq edit.
