Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey, I've read about everything I can find on installing the Card reader, the midicase site, the tiscali.nl link, that a few people have gotten SD cards to wrok, while everyone uses CF Cards. The reason of my post is to make sure of something:

http://www.amtron.com/reader/iisdmc.htm

From the site:

*

System Requirements:

* Socket

socket 1: Type I/II CFcard slot
socket 2: 4-in-1 (MMC/MS/SD/SM) slot

* Data transfer rate:

16.6 MB/sec. (PIO Mode 4)

* Dimensions:

D147.8 x W101.6 x H25.4 mm
(Standard 3.5" device)

* Interface

IDE/ATAPI
40-pin IDE connector

* Power Supply

DC+5V from system's power supply

Are those the correct specs for one, if so, do I need anything else?

I ordered this one from a german shop (I'm from belgium). It hasn't arrived yet but it will hopefully arrive soon.

This one is supposed to work with the xl. Don't know about the classic though.

it's an ide/atapi card reader
They say it's supposed to work on the 2000xl AND the 2000
Anyone knows about that?

They say a lot don't they...

This card reader will NEVER EVER work with the MPC 2000 classic for the simple and only reason that the classic has no IDE connector not internal nor external. The only card readers to work on the MPC 2k classic are the SCSI ones.

Thanks for the clear answer!
So if i understand well the floppy drive on the classique is a scsi floppy?
If i want to use the cf reader as external on the 2000 any scsi card reader will work ? right? Or do i have to get a microtech even for external use?

The floppy on the classic is a normal floppy but an IDE reader can NOT be connected to the floppy connector of the motherboard.

As for yhe SCSI cf readers, so far microtech seems to be your best bet, but other SCSI card reader brands might work as well.

I have that iisdmc card reader and it works fine with my xl. I didn't even have to update my OS. I'm still using 1.11 and I use a 1GB sandisk CF card. I haven't used SD cards with it yet, but I think it's been said before on here that you need an updated OS to use SD cards up to a certain size.
You'd be safest using CF cards.

Hope that was of some help.
