recording new sequence

Hi all, sorry for the basic questions(but I have been reading the manual over and over). I'm recording a new sequence with a program I've been using. I play the pad and it sounds fine. When I start recording the pad plays the sample much lower. It's bizarre. So I stop the recording and play the sample again and it's fine. I go to record and it does the same thing, plays the sample an octave lower or something. Weird.

What is the volume on the sample in program mode?? I can't remember if you can turn down the volume of each track in the track parameters section or not on the 500(I'm not in front of my 500 at the moment) if so this could be your problem also.

The power went out last night so of course I lost what I was working on. But when it came back up and I started from scratch the problem was gone. That was the weirdest thing.

quick question: when you have put batteries in the mpc, and the power would go off, the batteries then immediatly take over? without that you have to switch something?

in the instance of a power surge, it may keep the mpc in the "on" position. but restart the system and OS .

i was walkin down the hall at skool listenin to a beat on the 500 and bumped into a wall with it, the mpc stayed "on" but restarted the system/OS.

so maybe thas the effect u get.

but when i have my mpc plugged into the wall with batteries inside too, and i unplug, the unit stays on, with my current song still loaded and intact.

you probably just jolted the batteries a little. i know in my 500, the batteries are in there tightly but i can tell they kinda always wanna pop out when i open the cover. the pressure plus a jolt was probably enough to reset the machine.

if this is a problem, i'm sure users could tape the batteries down inside, and that would keep it from doing that... probably
