MPC1000 sequences to DAW?

Alright, im ready to send my MPC seqeunces to digital. How the hell do I send the seqeunces Ive already made into my computer program (Ableton Live) I know about midi clock and making one the slave and what not. But, how do actually send the seqeunces ive made and track them in ableton? I want to be able to edit everything on my computer now and not on the mpc.

Record your sequences to the computer using your sound card. I like to use the digital out of the MPC, since that has the least chance of coloration of the sound... unless that is what you want, of course.

You don't really need MIDI syncing to record from your MPC. I mostly do it because it's the fastest way to align the audio with the rest of the stuff in the my DAW, but you could just record everything and then align everything manually. You might even get some interesting stuff going by mis-aligning your beats

Couldn't you also sample your sequences internally on the MPC, and then copy the wav files from your MPC to your computer? That way you keep it all digital (especially if you have a cheap sound card).

Yeah, but I find that I run out of memory pretty fast that way. I happen to use pretty big samples.

@line, are you wanting to track the audio from the MPC into Live or send the MIDI data?

I also use Live and MPC1K. After f-ing around I've found that what works for me is to create the beat in the MPC (different instruments/sounds on different tracks) and then record each track (using the MPC's mute) into a clip in Live's session view.

So, for example, I'll sequence my drum track on MPC, record arm a clip in Live's session view, and after the 4 count-in of the metronome, I hit play on the MPC. Then, go into the clip and aling the beat - takes 2 seconds. Repeat with all other tracks in your MPC and then arrange in Live. Works well for me.

When I first got my MP, I tried to mess with syncing, etc. - but Live isn't great for syncing an MPC. Anywayz.

It doesn't matter whether you record it with Pro Tools or any other DAW, like Sonar, Cubase or Ableton Live.
