VERY silly.

Its silly to put a $30 OS in your MPC when you know its filled with bugs. At least do one thing right. Give it the memory that was designed for it. The proceeds will go towards technology to improve the next MPC

that argument is exhausted, since just about everyone here knows that far worse bugs existed in 2.1.

Give it the memory that was designed for it.

because the last 2 years of using 3rd party ram has REALLY starved akai

in fact i'd go as far to say that it was probably us third party ram users that drove the company into bankruptcy

Exhausted? Maybe. Far worst bugs? I guess you would be the expert on that. But as I have said before, during that time frame when you guys were saying how great the 1000 is with the new OS, I didn't read about all the bugs you are now talking about. But with this JJ OS, there is over a dozen bugs in the past 2 weeks. This was not the case with the official Akai OS.

Those are silly comments. Especially since you were the one that was leading the charge for people spending money on the 1000 in the first place.

Anyway, I seriously doub't much reasearch and development went into the RAM. Akai is a company that specializes on samplers not RAM. They most likely found a manufacturer to design RAM specifically for these MPCs, and slapped their logo on it. They are throwing in the RAM with new MPC purchases.

Well, I didn't get it with mine. And I think it's silly to shell out more cash for RAM that is exactly the same kind as being used in laptops.

Heres a link to $75 'buy it now' for NEW AKAI's EXM 128 RAM on ebay.. Just trying to help.

saving bugs in the 1000 2.10 os and in the 2500 show that akai os are not very reliable. To be honnest, i got bored of JJ os with bugs and now i wait for several updates before upgrading.

you remind me of this dude who used to post named soberisms who tried flaming me and any other user of 3rd party ram for "not supporting akai" and for putting our mpcs in "great danger"

for the above poster, here's a link of compatable ram that costs about 50 dollars less (save the money and buy records)

agreed. see below comparison.

must have been reading the wrong threads.

But with this JJ OS, there is over a dozen bugs in the past 2 weeks. This was not the case with the official Akai OS.

let's have a comparison, shall we?

akai os bug - amp envelope. turn decay all the way up and you hear snippets of OTHER SAMPLES being played at low volume. try using a highly decayed sample in your sequence while you have a lot loaded onto your machine and listen to the fireworks. also - use "move" while something is copied several times and watch the sequence data "break" (notes still appear to be there but does not play, this bug is saved and you have to rebuild your track)

jj os bug recently cleared: put 1 sample on A01, another on A02. simult pad A02 so it triggers upon A01. put A01 to qlink tune realtime and tap A01 while moving the qlink. BUG - A02's tune is also changed by qlink.

let's say we had all bugs past, present, future laid out on a word document.
are all these bugs equal? no. stuff that's gonna freeze your mpc or corrupt your saved material is more serious than a graphic corruption.

say you could give a rating of bug severity: 1-10. say that an OS's bugs were tallied, documented, and given 1-10 ratings, 10 being the worst.

2.1's bad bug score would be higher than 4.xx.
this comes from "the expert on that."

Don't mean to flame you...but you were the one trying to convince everyone that came along to buy the MPC 1000. This was before the JJ OS. You have done everything in your power to champion the 1000. You have had a direct impact on the few dozen people here that have purchased that unit. Maybe they should all be mad at you

But I still advise people who didn't get the free RAM, to spend their $75 on the Akai Ram.
