Right cursor is done

...it doesnt work like it used to. I have to press very hard to get it to move. Ive had my mpc for less than a year and honestly i'm sick of its bullsh*t. I copped it from vst and im past my 6 month warrenty. Should i open it up and try to clean it(i hope thats all it is) or should i take it down to VST next week? Any tips?

take that shit to vst cuz you might void the warranty if you open it up by yourself. I highly doubt you got that much dirt underneath the button in order for it to malfuntion, but who knows.

I doubt its dirt too. My warrenty is done anyway unless its still good wit akai but i didnt register my mpc with akai when i got it. I dunno what their policy is on that. I kno vst gunna **** me up wit repair charges tho.

on the real, Im bout to join the f*ck akai union. I just copped battery 3, im downloading FL 7 demo and thinking bout switchin back to software. that hardware nostalgia is fading.

It sucks that you guys are having so many probs with your gear. I thank GOD I havent experienced too much trouble with mine. Good luck gettin' it repaired. Hopefully VST won't be unfair in gettin you fixed up. Peace.

Don't buy into that registration bullshit, that's just for marketing puroposes. If you have a receipt, that's your warranty. Any company worth its salt will honour their warranty, although you may find you have to pick up the courier tab.

Best company I've found for warranty is Plextor. I had a year's return to base warranty on a DVD writer, bought from an online retailer. It broke down about a month after I got it, so I emailed Plextor as their RMA procedure directed. That was on a Monday. Same day they arranged a courier pick up for Tuesday, I had a new drive by Friday. All at no cost to me. Most impressive was the drive went from UK to Belgium (and back).

I reinstalled the os and reformatted now its working (wtf?) to the point where i can make a beat but still trippin. ima hit up VST monday.

I dont know. Thats just want i did and the cursor's response improved. Compared to the other cursors, my right cursor is still hard to move.

tact switches - 7.50 from vst
gotta solder em in yourself
i just ordered 100 tact switches from a hong kong seller on ebay for 15 bucks or so, just to have. buttons that get used heavily go after a year/2 dependign on tact switch quality.

i suggest buying a bulk on ebay and learning how to solder so you can save yourself some serious loot

my '''B" pad bank' button went last year - not just usual wear n tear though...( it got squashed by a stray jack plug in a flightcase), i had to take it in for repair, but i reckon now ive had my mpc1k open, i imagine with a steady hand, and the right soldering iron, u may fix it yourself if u can get the part.

it depends on how much of a hurry u are in, cimple solutions in the uk took 4 weeks to sort it.

MPCs are not industructable. The cursor buttons are usually one of the first things to go after repeated/heavy handed use.

The buttons on the 2500 is as durable as the buttons on the 2000/2000XL. If you bang on those buttons, eventually you will have to replace the switches. It all depends on the user. I have had MPCs for years that didn't have these problems. But when I was hustling MPCs, many of the used units I bought had problems with switches that I had to get replaced.

So be kind to your $2000 machine.
