Post your views and questions about the Akai MPC2500

from the akai pro website (http://www.akaipro.com/prodMPC2500.php):

"Memory card slot:Compact Flash (The size of the compact flash card that MPC500 can handle is from32MB to 2GB)"

i know that says MPC500, but it's a typo.

there's someone here who claims he has a 4GB microdrive that works, but i don't know if he's actually tested it up to 4GB. it's possible that even though the mpc recognizes the card as 4gb, it could be unable to use up to the disk's full capacity. i'd be interested to know if he has 4GB of data on that drive and if so, is his mpc able to access all of it with no problems.

yeah, I remember reading that in a thread, too. said he lifted a 4 gig microdrive from an old ipod, and it worked in his 2500. but i wasn't sure if he, or anyone else, confirmed that it worked. that's why I asked, I wasn't really sure. nonetheless, I think I'll just go with what the website says... just to be safe that I don't buy extra MBs that I can't use.

I didnt believe him until I cracked open a friend's ipod mini to get the 4Gig drive and it works!!!! took 1/2 a second to format and its all I need/use with my mpc. so much easier than having multiple cards. Try it and i gaurantee you wont be disapointed.
BTW - It has to be an ipod MINI

Also - I found it very easy to get hold of a broken ipod as I know many skateboarders. If you just ask for someone whos got a completely smashed up ipod you'll save a bundle.

did you even read what i said? just because you have a 4GB drive in there doesn't mean that the MPC can use all 4 GBs. the MPC might still only be able to read 2 GB's off of it, so the other 2 GB's would be useless.

please test and make sure that all 4 GB's are useable before claiming that a 4GB microdrive works.

1 gig

I got a 2.1 gig cf Flash card for free from a friend of mine, and I was so excited and then when I tried it out it didn't work, it just froze up my mpc when I tried to reformat it.

on a side note you can get kingston 1g cf cards for $20 online!

Found the same. I actually wouldn't recomend this as a back up. From experience these micro drives are kinda unreliable. Unless your just using it to transfer beats saved elsewhere. Get a hard drive. 30GB are dirt cheap these days.
