just moved over fromthe 2kxl to the 2500....

I thought this would be an easy trasition but it's not I was almost forced into it my 2kxl crapped out and they dont make em anymore anyone can tell me something to make this easier?

They don't make them (XLs) anymore but you can still buy some new..... nonetheless, what are you trying to do?

man anything I don't know anything about this one I can record a sample but what I hate is that when I'm in trim mode it when using the data wheel it goes slow as anything anyway to make that faster? also if I want to make one program with mutiple different chopped samples (16 zones) and I want to put part one on bank a part 2 on bank b then load drums on a different program how do I do that? I mean anything else you can contribute would help out alot

for quicker editing you can use Q1 and Q2 sliders

its funny im sitting in front of this joint right now.... im slidin those things all over while I'm using this data wheel and nothings happening

hold the "note on" buttons while moving the sliders to adjust the start and end points. the left slider moves the start point, the right one moves the end point.

unfortunately end points don't work the same way as the 2000xl. the 2000xl was nice because the more you moved the data wheel, the more the end points moved, and if you slowed down, it would move the end points slower as well.

for some reason they got rid of that functionality (stupid move in my opinion and hopefully it gets brought back), and what you have to do is hold shift and click the left cursor button. doing that will select the tens column, and so every click of the data wheel will move the end points by 10. hold shift and click the left cursor button again and you'll see that the hundreds column is selected and each click of the data wheel will move the end points by 100. hold shift and click the right cursor button and you'll be able to move by 10 again.

there's no zone feature like there was on the 2000xl. it's been replaced with chop shop, but i never used the zone feature on the 2000xl nor do i use chop shop so i can't tell you the difference really.

i think the 2500 is very similar to the 2000xl, but there are a few minor changes. the best advice i can give is to read up on everything you're not sure of in the manual. not only will you learn the machine, but it will save you the sarcastic and bitter responses on this board when you ask a simple question that someone may think is a waste of time.

p.s. the end points was the first thing that i wasn't sure of as well when i switched over. another thing i found out was you can't convert a sample from stereo to two mono samples in the 2500, you have to resample to do that. not too much that i couldn't figure out on my own own though without a little trial and error or a trip to the manual.

the transition is not that difficult. You cannot make the data wheel move any faster. The 2500 has different options just read the manual and play around with them.

ive read some of the manual but what I really wanna know is how to take a sample put the firstpart of the song I wanna sample on bank a then the second part of the song where the sample will switch on bank b bank c and bank d and make them all on one program if I learned that I'll be in business thanks

that's all part of learning how to assign samples to different pads.

you can chop faster using the

"shift and < cursor" combination to change whether it moves 10,100,1000 etc....

same as on the 2000xl and 1000

You can use the shift + < cursor key or the Q sliders as already suggested but I think really you should have a go with JJ OS and see what you think of that...there's a chance you may actually begin to prefer the 2500 to the xl, who knows

imo, the jj os has a much easier window for sample trimming/chopping. you can zoom without changing windows and the data wheel is a lot more efficient with it. try it, it's free.
