Is the JJ os any good? Just kidding. The 1000 is my first MPC. Technically speaking, is the 1000 more capable than the 60, 2000, and 3000?

So would you prefer the 1000 over the others I mentioned? Or is there some kind of vintage sound the old machines have that the 1k does not?

yes, but i say if you have to rely that much on a machine for a particular sound then you're doing something wrong in your production.
ie other mpcs have no special sound that will MAKE your production, and the 1k has no inferior sound that will BREAK your production.

I've been using the 1K since I've started making beats, and I love it. It does everything I want it to do and then some. I really don't know why people hate the 1K so much.
The 1K is without a doubt more capable then the other MPC's that you mentioned. The only advantage to the others is the sound, as mentioned.

I would figure that the more expensive MPC ie. 2500 and 4000 have more capabilities than the 1000 without JJOS.
So the 1000 is great very easy to load files from the PC... much easier than the 2000xl...
if you are starting out, I am talking from experience here... the 1000 is an awesome unit to begin with. When you get better, then upgrade... That is what I plan on doing...

Upgrade to what? the 4K? That seem sto be the only one with any real advantages. (besides outs)

^^^ thats what i thought too.
the 2500 is an obvious upgrade for the size and extra hardware but i wouldnt say any other mpc has any sound advantage on the 1000.

I have played with the 60, the 2500, and 2000 xl and maybe I just like the way the 1k feels because I have spent more time with it than the others, But I really dont see why people hate on the 1k. Maybe old timers who grew up on the older machines and cant stand that now so many people can have an MPC, when they paid several thousands for theirs and the 1k is just as good?
