does anybody use this set up? i just ordered a mpc1k. i was using asrx and a s2000 and sonar 2.2xl

This set up is pure hottness. Ditch the S2000. I rock the 1000 with than Asr 10, X and a Emu Emax. You will be super happy with the set up on.

thanx. good lookin out. i can't wait for mpc1k to arrive. maybe i trade the s2000 for a oxygen 8 or an edriol keybord controller.

beware: the mpc1k is NOT like the s2000 at all. If you think you can just hook up the keys to the mpc1k and start playing melodies, think again. Also, no envelopes on filters, no lfos, ...man, I feel like I say this too much in this forum.

Yo! the ASR-x is the samething as mpc 1k.
The sequencer on the mpc 1k is way better.
asr-x export AIFF at 44,880
mpc 1k export wav at 44,100 more cpu friendly.

Sampling and assigning samples to the pads are MADD easy on the ASR-X.
You don't need both, one will be collecting dust.

The MPC and the ASR X are two diffrent monsters. The sample engine of the ASR is way better than the MPC. I use the MPC or sequencing and the X to chop up samples.

while we're on this topic...does anyone else use an su700 ?
works really well with the mpc...i use the su for loops (kind of like a hardware version of acid) and the mpc for sequencing everything else...core of my live set-up: i can do basically anything with these two pieces (well...ok...and a microkorg/evolver/qy70) that i can do with logic and all my other crap.

...the su700's really underrated (in my opinion)...

I agree, the MPC and ASR-X are 2 different monsters...I own an MPC2000xl, ASR-X Pro, and an ASR-10....The sampling engine in the ASR's are way more advance than the MPC2000xl sampling engine. The MPC has a way more solid sequencer and graphic interface (Ensoniq was obsessed with the 1 line green screen). The ASR-X Pro also offers built in sounds plus expansion via MR cards and 66Mb simms.
