Just ordered my 1K

After months of scrimping and saving, reading and rereading of the manual and copious amounts of time spent here devouring the collective wisdom of the forum, I have finally ordered my MPC!

I'm sorry for what is really a bit of a wasted post but I just wanted to share it with someone who understands these things....

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to sit by the door waiting for the courier!

i will take this time to post for the first time. i ordered a mpc1000 and should be getting it today.

years ago i owned a mpc2000. but i sold it. i have done all of my production since then using virtual instruments. but i found myself stuck in a rut for my latest project and yearning for an mpc. so i am looking forward to getting back to work with the mpc100 in tow.

i like them. i like them a lot really. my entire album was done a couple years back almost entirely with cubase and halion. the thing that makes them so good is also part of the problem with them-- flexibility. like many people on this forum have suggested it is often a good idea to be able to compose away from the confines of the computer screen.

the mpc will allow me to do that.

I got sick of tracking with a computer. So how do like the MPC for sequencing? It is different from Cubase. We can turn it on and just turn it off with one button: Evenything done. Cool huh?

I started makin beats with a 4 track and a akai s01, then a sp505 , s2000, asrx, acid and sonar. now i'll use the mpc1k. i'll keep the asrx.

it will take some getting use to. but so far i am enjoying my reintroduction to sequencing with the mpc. i think the main benefit i get is that is seems easier to improvise while composing.

the computer will continue to plae an essential role in production. i have since left cubase for the greener grass of logic pro.

I used Cubase for some years now and I am tired of those bugs. How much better is Logic compared to Cubase?

Well, the MPC has just turned up. Popped it out of the box and it does feel pretty solid, though has that slight rocking motion from the wonky footpads. Also, it looks like there is some sort of hair sandwiched between the screen and the plastic window of the outer case. Easily sorted I'm sure.

Strangely, supplied with a euro 2-pin mains lead which sucks as I can't try it out until I get home.

Luckily my boss doesn't seem to mind me sitting here drooling over it and not working, for now.

in my experience logic is less buggy. i use it in osx so you lose native support of VST plug ins but there are plenty of great AU plugins now. i just got my upgrade to pro (from platinum) so i cannot really report on the stability of the latest release.

i think the sound engine in logic is better too. but that is very subjective.....
