the drive that I have is this one :
http://www.fel.fujitsu.com/home/v3__product.asp?pid=122
I only have 640 cartridge to test it, mayby that's the problem and it could work with 540 has the byte per sector is 2048 for 640 and 512 for 540 ? I don't kown which byte sector do the MPC support?

MPC3000 supports 512 bytes per sector for "read/write" storage media.

It treats 2048 bytes a sector devices as CD-ROMS only.

For the most part 2048 bytes per sector devices ARE CD-ROM types.

This would explain the corruption aspect of data transfer you're experiencing.

i'll confirm that, do not knwo if's it's ultra scsi or not is this a problem?

The MPC3000 uses a SCSI I command set for read and write on a SCSI II bus.

This ensures command and connection compatible.

Provided you're drive is cabled correctly, it will work.

As for the carts you're using. Try a 540 meg ( 512 bytes per sector ) one with the MPC3000 and report back.

this update sounds like heaven... i recently considered using a 2500 instead of the 3000.... but with the enhanced editting features, man, i'd rather spend 200 than 1500 !

question, will ALL old data be readable in the update, and will all hardware thats currently working (jazz drive, pc cardreader with cf cards in it)work with the update?

Props to Rohan on this MAJOR development.
I know he has been working on this for quite a while.

Rohan, you should do a video demo of the new features & Youtube it.
I'm anxious to check this out.

Hot damn, I'm blowing the dust off my MPC this weekend.

A similar question on compatibility of files was asked on a certain other forum where I posted an answer:

To see the question answered in context of the original posters statement then visit:

http://www.futureproducers.com/forums/s ... p?t=186803

All save and load operations are carried out in the good old way they always have been since version 3.11/3.12. ( and even earlier )

Nothing changes where save and load operations are concerned.

Q: My MPC3000 uses OS 3.16 or earlier ( includes OS 3.11 ).
Can my existing projects created within my MPC3000's earlier OS be loaded into a Vailixi 3.50 equipped MPC3000 ?
A: Yes.

Q: If I save my work onto disk from within an MPC3000 equipped with Vailixi 3.50.
Can all files saved be loaded and used on MPC3000's installed with OS versions less than and including OS 3.16 ( includes OS 3.11 )?
A1: If the files created within a Vailixi 3.50 upgraded MPC3000 are saved onto disks formatted using the "standard MODE0 option" within Vailixi 3.50 then yes.
A2: If the files created within a Vailixi 3.50 upgraded MPC3000 are saved onto disks formatted by an MPC3000 installed with an OS version less than and including 3.16 ( includes 3.11 ) then yes.
A3: If the files created within a Vailixi 3.50 upgraded MPC3000 are saved onto disks formatted by an MPC60 equipped with Roger Linn Design's 3.10E OS and MARION SYSTEM SCSI board then yes.

Now ... As for hardware compatibility.

Thanks to the new user selectable "SCSI Multi Sector Transfer Mode" option within Vailixi 3.50 ...... even MORE storage devices now work with the MPC3000.

So, with that in mind. If your storage hardware worked before then it will still continue to work.

As will a whole host of other previousl devices that showed signs of non-compatibility.

I'll update the www.mansell-labs.com site with some additional FAQ's this week end.

Cheers,

Rohan.

Does the new Hybrid Partition option work with Mac OS X?

As will a whole host of other previousl devices that showed signs of non-compatibility.

Do you have a list of what new SCSI devices will work with 3.50? I'm on the market for an MPC

I'll update the FAQ pages soon so these and other questions can be answered.

Rohan, I know you're prolly busy, but here's one you might add to the FAQ:

Does the new COPY ZONE -> SND function create a new sample in memory, or does it require an existing sample to copy into?

Ahh ... yeah. Little bit busy.

FAQ will be updated over the next day or so with more information.

The COPY ZONE -> SND function is as follows:

This allows samples defined within an edit ZONE to be transformed directly into a new sound within memory from a single button push.

Define a ZONE start and end, COPY ZONE -> SND and a new SOUND will appear in memory.

The new SOUND created via this process will be auto named as “ZONE” with an incremental number appended for easy location within memory.

EG: ZONE000, ZONE001 etc.

The "appended" tag number after ZONE is picked up from the "SAMPLE NEW SOUND" tag assigned when you sample a new sound.

This function is spot on for chopping up a long sample or loop without hurting/editing ( going mad over multiple un-necessary edit steps just to break the kick and snare out out of a loop for instance ) the original recording.

Cool?

Rohan.

Ordering mine tonight, i was sold even when i first heard about it.

A Question for you Rohan, does the shipping price from the paypal link on Mansell Labs (i thinks it's $15) does that include shipping to UK????

Don't know if it's an international shipping price or a US national.

I'm in London by the way, Thanks in advance, Karl...
