Note Repeat

can someone tell me what this button really does? im not sure how to use it and when i would use it. i dont even know what its used for. thanks

It works like this:

Whatever quantization (timing correct) the mpc is set for (1/8, 1/16, 1/32) is what note repeat will play on. It only works in play and rec mode.

ex.
Put a hat on a pad. Set Timing: to 1/8. Start recording and hold the note repeat button down and then hold the pad with the hat on it down. It will play on every 1/8th note. Try it with 1/16, and 1/32.

oh ok. well how could you benefit from this? why would this be better then juss bangin it out yourself? sounds tight...ill try it

Good for hats, at 1/8, or try it at 1/32 (3). It repeats crazy fast. Experiment.

YOU CAN USE IT FOR RAPID HAT, SNARES & ROLLS ETC. IM TRYIN TO USE IT EVEN MORE NOW.

I lay all my kicks with the note repeat, say yor swing is set to 54% and shift on 1, timing on 1/16, youll get them primo type du-dums on your kick.

and like binger said, if you want them southern triplet hi hats, you would hold down the note repaet on 1/16 for your hi hats the go and set the timing to 1/32 and double up over the 1/16 notes.

you hold it down and press a pad. on instruments it would make it stutter.

the mpc1000 is a music makin machine, you really need to be creative, there are hundreds of ways to tweak, sustain, or do pretty much anything with it, its all up to you and how creative you can be, f**k what the manual says... try to find a new way to use all the functions...

i gave this idea away in another thread, with the qlink set on tune or whatever, play an empty seq and with a sound, lets say a synth, hold down the note repeat and then hold the pad that the qlink is assigned to and slide that qlink-mutha away! then you could experiment by setting it to mono, or for a smoother realtime effect sound, raise the tempo to 300... OR just think of this... combine the qlink, 16 levels, and note repeat... awww shit, now we're talkin... and so on and so forth... this is one of a million hidden tricks in the mpc...

nope repeat/tap tempo button can also be used to find yur tempo to Smoove03! Some producers never use it tho but the note repeat is very helpful mos def!

yea true. i used it a few times, but i aint 2 down wit that. it helps sometimes tho

yeah ive made some wierd sounds combining note repeat, note variation with the slider, full level off, and 16 levels. Wierd like background ambient effects.
