Hi all. I just got a 2nd hand mpc1000.

I've noticed that sometimes when playing beats, mainly a kick and a snare, notes get retriggered accidentally. I'm not using note repeat or anything. Its like the pads are sending double hits, sometimes very fast, sometimes not so fast.

Depending on how I play this seems to happen less. Dry, short hits appear to be better. But it still happens every now and then, especially when playing faster, more dense beats.

Is this a normal/acceptable behaviour on the mpc1000 pads? Or are the pads messed up? Should the pad response be perfect?

Thanks for any advice.

Yeah, its "normal" for MPC1000 pads, but its far from acceptable. Check out the threads on dead pads and pad fixes - Antonym is working on a pad fix that should be much better.

did you search for this info? its all over this very forum.

a user here named 'antonym' is designing custom replacement pads, and theres a rumor that akai will offer an official replacement design in addition to the current replacement pads which arent any different than the ones you have now.

alien_brain - I actually did some search, but the word retrigger brought up almost every thread on this board :D

I always thought the pad problems were related to a loss of sensitivity/function only, I didnt know retriggering was also an issue. It sucks, but I somehow feel relieved knowing its a common issue.

Thanks for the answers!

sup man! Just read about your pad project. Great stuff. I think I'll soon be ordering a kit too.
