SETUP QUESTION

OK I HAVE A TURNTABLE, THE 1000, AND A DJ MIXER. IN THE E-BOOK IT RECOMMENDS I SHOULD ALSO HAVE A AMPLIFIER AND A MIXER. DO MOST OF YOU GUYS ON HERE HAVE A AMP AND MIXER CONNECTED TO YOUR SETUP? AND ALSO IF I GET A MIDI KEYBOARD DO YOU RECOMMEND A SOUND MODULE TOO? THANKS. I BASICALLY JUST WANNA KNOW WHATS THE IMPORTANT STUFF TO GET THE BEST SOUND QUALITY

I don't... I just use my headphones so that my family can't hear the mess I am making...

it wouldnt hurt to get an amp or an mixer.... especially a mixer if your introducing keybords and sound modules in your setup...



ps: sound doesnt travel thru midi. so having a mixer is a grand idea.

This can't be emphasized enough... Midi is a communication protocol for instruments to talk to each other.

With this clarified, having at least a mixer + headphones will allow you to hear how all the instruments sound in an orchestration.

for most people an amp is simply to drive your monitors if they require it. you should really be looking at what monitors to hook up as that will determine the type of amp you would need, if any.

having a mixer is a really good idea even with just the MPC since it has 4 mono OUTS and a main stereo OUT. adding keyboards and modules is adding even more OUTS to deal with. you have to MIX all those signals somehow....

not sure if you mean keyboard or controller. if you get just a controller then you will want either a PC with software instruments or a module. a keyboard can basically be thought of as a controller and a module in one unit. you can use it as a standalone device or control the module part from the MPC and use the controller part to control any other MIDI device....

If you buy powered monitors you may not need an amp... there are some very good for the price monitors to be had...

WELL I WAS JUST ASKING BECAUSE I READ THAT YOU CANNOT SAMPLE FROM A SOURCE AND AT THE SAME TIME USE THAT AS YOUR AMPLIFIER (WHICH IS MY DJ MIXER) IT WOULD CAUSE LOOP FEEDBACK. I HAVE MY MPC CONNECTED TO THE DJ MIXER RECORDING FROM THE TURNTABLE WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY TOO CONNECTED TO THE DJ MIXER. SO I WAS WONDERING IF I NEED TO GET A AMP TO SOLVE THIS? THANKS

as long as you mute the output channels while you are sampling then you wont have a feedback loop

how do i do that?

by activating the mute buttons on the channels you would like to avoid hearing or you could activate the solo buttons on the channels you would like to hear out of your monitors/headphones
