I havent seen it anywhere in the manual but it baffles me that this function didnt exist yet in os 2.12.. am I overlooking something? if so, os 3.10 upgrade might have to happen sooner than I expected...

As Salaam Aleykum!
Yes,you are raight my bro..No poly,Mono,NoteOff functions,16 levels with other settings and so many things isn´t possible in 2.12 os...
But 95-105 USD isn´t much to upgrade your 60 into 3000,i think with this upgrade is BETTER than orig.3000 for its rocky and fatter sound so if i could give you an advice-buy the new os if it´s possible.
Aleykum salaam!

Roger Linn design wants $195 for the os. I will have to upgrade sooner than expected. Where can you get it for $95-$105 as you say>

it may be possible utilizing the individual outputs, thats how the s950 works... i dont have version 2.12 installed to test it out but, i think that anything coming out the same output will cut off the previous sample coming out of that same output... anyone care to try this and report back?

i aint really familiar with the 2.12 os version and all its menus/features BUT....

just take a sample, assign it to a pad/midi note number, then assign it to an INDIVIDUAL OUTPUT ( 1-8 )... now when you play a sample out a certain INDIVIDUAL OUTPUT, try to trigger the same sample as the one that was triggered first which will be going out the same INDIVIDUAL OUTPUT, and if my theory is correct, it will cut off the first sample that was triggered and will start playing the second sample just like the MONO function in the 3.10e OS version... you may have to set the sample to ONE-
SHOT somewhere also for this to work... try it with the same sample, and also try it with different samples assigned to the same INDIVIDUAL OUTPUT... im really not sure that it will work, and i dont have access to OS version 2.12 without a bit of a hassle uninstalling and reinstalling OS's... but like i said, this is how you get to cut off samples in the S950, so i think its worth a try...

let us know what you find out...

this method of using INDIVIDUAL OUTPUTS cutting off samples coming out of the same output is also how the SP1200 works... with this old equipment there is usually a way to do things, just not as straight forward as some of the newer gear where the OS's are written a little better... things are possible but sometimes you gotta go a roundabout way to acheive them...

I'm not sure if this is what yall r looking 4 but just load the same sample in2 the next pad incrementally and the sample will pitch up 1 notch automatically. It's a rather tedious process but that's how u do it on the 2.XX OS. I can dig out my old manual and explain in more detail if needed. uno
