hey everyone,

I hate posting this, makes me feel like such a friggin n00b!

But i have a problem, since my studio was robbed awhile ago, ive been trying to replace my gear so i can start working again.

now, im getting 3000 canadian for my tax return in a couple of days, heres the problem...

I had a 2000XL, it was stolen. now i can either buy a 2000XL or a 2500. the 2000XL has a new screen, but no ZIP drive or card reader, for $950. Or i can buy a 2500 thats been used 3 times by a freind of mine for 1500. I know it sounds easy, but im also looking to replace my tech1200's and my mixer. I have a guy holding a pair of MKII's and a SA5 for $700. Now i could in essience buy either one of the mpc's and still buy the decks with money to spare.

The problem is this, i need to save a little cash for rent and shit. plus i really want serato. i can get serato for 600 used here.

I want everyones input, just incase i havent thought of what you think, ive beeen thinking this threw for like 2 weeks and its driving me mad. i have the Devil on my shoulder saying 2500, serato and decks, **** the rent saftey money. But the angel (my buetifal roommate, who i seem to borrow money from every month to cover rent for a few days), saying to be smart and buy just what i need to start making music again, and save some cash for rent, but she doesnt mind lending it to me since it only a few days.

What do you think?

I would go with the 2500 first, but I would only purchase whatever you can start turning money on the quickest. IE, getting your TTs and Mixer can get you a gig and you can turn money around and then get the 2500. But if you are making beats, get one TT the mixer and the 2500.

I know how you feel about wanting it all back, but I would get what you can't live with right off the bat.

just my 2 cents.

well i wanna get back into beats and DJing at the same time actualy.

I have a few DJ gigs i can pick up real soon with the DNA records crew, they dont have a DJ and have been on stage with a CD player. i go to school with some of them so they offered it up since they heard me battleing a guy at school on the 1's and 2's. Another thing is with the decks i would really need serato to work with them, since it would cost more to cut dubs for their stuff then serato would.

And their whole crew is needing beats, since they only really have one or 2 guys to go with in their crew and are craving fresh shit.

I was thinking the 2500 for speed and storage ease since the 2K doesnt have 8 outs or cardreader, so thats more cash i need to put out. the 2500 has 128 megs of ram and a 2gig CF card, so thats a good start.

I could get everything and have like 300$ left over, thats like $100 short of rent, but i am working again now fulltime while going tto school, but i like the safety net ya know.

Keep'm coming,

Rob

just go with 2500 to be safe. you can always downgrade
