mpc help please urgent

mpc is in great working condition but when i go to the sample function it freezes and doesnt work plus i got no sound when it was workong i was making a beat then i heard a pop but it still works but freezes and no sound

You have a strange definition of great working condition!!

It sounds like corrupted Ram Chips. Try replacing the Ram. It's not that difficult and you can them get really cheap. If that doesn't work send it off to be serviced

It's possible the pop was some sort of power surge. If you use a power bar make sure it's surge protected. Sounds like you fried something inside, hopefully it wasn't any main of the main chips and just a ram chip like kraster said. Check over your disk drive(s) too, see if they spin etc. Try testing as much stuff as possible and give more info on what works an what doesn't.

ok lemme see if i deciphered this correctly....

your mpc will power up but freezes ....

does the disc drive spin or attempt to spin when you power it up?
does it say "detecting memory..." when you start it up ...
or does it automatically just give you a long error number or just a
blank screen...

you were makin a beat..then you heard a pop??

were the sounds loaded into the MPC??
were you triggering sounds from a module or keyboard??
were the sounds you sampled in??

my final question is is it grounded properly??

it sounds like you fried something but im no tech ..
drop it off at your local music store ... sometimes you can
get a tech to bench test it for you for cheap..
