Nasty EQ glitch

whats goin on fellas?
i've been makin music for a minute and have messed with an mpc1000 in the past but i'm still a newb when it comes to these mpcs. thing is i just got a 2500 and was tracking some samples to be chopped and decided i wanted to eq them. started eqing in the master track and realized track wasnt being affected by changes in setting. (mode,effect,master) is this the wrong mode?
to add to the problem i tried extied by going back to the main screen and went back to effects, and it did start working for a few seconds then as i was setting the low mids and hit enter BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP%*&)$&@#%*)$*%$*%$*$&%*)&%$#!!!!
i got some crazy electronic feedback sound that scared the crap out of me, it was like 3 in the morning and i had my beyerdynamic headphones on with levels semi up so you know i wasnt ready for that. anyways i did a little searching and didnt find anything about it, anyone experience this or know anything about it or trying to figure out if im doing this wrong.

That sounds like one of those on going intermittent bugs in the 2500. It could be anyhting, from sample corruption, faulty components, or just a one off glitch, as you say

Seriously, you can expect that with the new ish from Akai. My 2500 has some minor glitches like that from time to time, such as a little pop in the sample, and then the next day the same sample plays back just fine

It's crazy, but you just have to accept it. Akai aint gonna do anything to change things.

I would hate to think what the mpcs in the future will be like, probably made out of cardboard.

Now that's the type of ish that makes me think of class action lawsuits for reason of selling faulty products. I dunno. When you buy a car and the manufacturer "discovers" problems that effect the whole line, they recall the unit and for free of charge they fix it. WTF Akai?

Yea..because that's mostly safety-critical issues, and probably people are gonna die if they don't.

Now what about an MPC?

thing is i think i was messin with the low mids, but it was 3am...
if anything other than other minor glitcches i'm still happy with my piece.
it does what i need for now i think, i backed up and deleted all the stock sounds and i'm in the process of recording and loading new sounds still putting kits together so far so good even though. even though i havent gotten too heavily into bangin out the pads and the other effects yet.

i do find that the mpc filters are a little crunchy at times, also once ive put a few qlink-fcutoff movements in the seq tracks, the filters can start to crackle, they must be overdriving ever so slightly, i might try to attenuate it actually. they are quite cheap digital filters n eq's tho' so we cant complain too much,maybe we pay more for a rugged build than excellent component design.
