Backlight Inverter Whine? Solutions?

It seems to me that the transformer on the inverter PCB will be very hard to find a replacement for. Have any of you used any kind of methods to dampen or eliminate the sound coming from this transformer/inverter?

I replaced my backlight foil and everything works great. But I still get a high pitched wine from the inverter. Do any of you have any recommendations?

I have been considering epoxy resin to dampen noise. Any ideas?

I have this same exact problem. **** irritating. I've been meaning to send it to Forat and make them fix it haha I don't know how to do that shit

Well I opened the inverter and found the piece of tape to have come off. I taped the coil inside with a piece of electrical tape real well, but it didnt seem to make much of a difference. I am trying to figure out a solution besides buying a new inverter. Some laquer or epoxy resin over the coil maybe?


Hrmm. Someone's gotta have a remedy. The inverter seems to be working fine. The backlight works fine from what I can see.

its not that expensive. 3o bucks from vst, if you install it yourself. its not like it breaks every other month.. probably last you another 10-15 yrs

$30 for the whole pcb assembly?

I believe its just the transformer coil vibrating at a high frequency. 30 bucks for just the inverter and not the whole board with comonents loaded seems real steep. If I can fix it for next to nothing using tape or epoxy I will, but thanks for pointing out that vst sells the part.

I taped the shit out of mine but it didnt seem to reduce it much. I ended up buying one from vst for $33. They no longer have the exact 60 part so you have to use a 3000 inverter with slight wiring modification instead. They send you a diagrm with the inverter about the proper voltages etc.

is it me or vst keeps raising the price frequently? they charge ridiculous price for used parts too. i bought the inverter for 20 and change, but said 30 jsut to make it simple. they probably spy on this site. eh..

Yeah. Thats why when you said 30 for just the inverter component and not the whole board it seemed steep to me. But when Im not sampling or sequencing the whine is constantly nagging me sayin, "fix me". My ears tend to hear high frequencies pretty well.. the whine is quite significant to my ears.


When all is said and done I think it will be worth it even if my wallet is $33 lighter.
