broken cf slot?

everytime i turn on the mp with the cf card in the machine it goes blank. it turns on but the screen light is the only thing on, the screen is blank and the little lights like pad bank and window buttons dont flash. when the card isnt in, it turns on just fine, but right when i put the card in again, it goes blank again..anybody know what the problem could be????

thanks for the link. dont know why everytime i search, random stuff comes up. is there a specific way of searching?

I find that single word searches seem to work the best as far as getting relevant results, but you do still have to weed through a bit of stuff to find it. The non-descriptive thread titles don't exactly help either.

I do feel that the search function on this forum isn't the best I've used. I think next time I might try pointing one of the big search engines at this domain to see if they can do any better.

Most of the old links I post for people on here come from the "posts by user" search on my own user name. Narrows it down to the thread titles I can remember the best, obviously.

if you put multiple words into the search box, you need to put the word 'AND' in between, so if you're searching for 'cf card blank screen' you need to put in 'cf AND card AND blank AND screen'

Thanks modnaR I'll try that next time. My biggest issue was trying to search for a complete thread title. That never works -- probably because there's no way to search for titles only.
