sample tempo

greetings all. i searched through the archives for this question being previously asked before i posted it. there were 350+ pages to go through, and my eyes started to become weary after page 188; so it is possible that i overlooked my answer. for that i apologize in advance. in addition, most of what i found applied to the 4k. anyways, my question is:

pretaining to the 2kXL...after i've sampled a sound byte with a tempo of 120 (i.e: a muslim chant from a c.d, or a 2 bar loop from acid), and i want to incorporate into the track that i'm creating, which is using a tempo of 100, is it possible and if so, how do i use the mpc to edit the tempo of the sample so that it accomidates my track? (or would i have to resample the soundbyte at the desired tempo?)

also, while i'm thinking about it; part of my system consist of cakewalk - sonar 3, producer ed. my "buddy" at the guitar center mentioned something about sequencing using the 2kXL, saving to disk, placing the disk into my pc, and the sonar being able to read and lay down the midi sequenced track(s). he was not very clear on how to accomplish this task, he merely said that he used to do it when he was heavily into production. does that make sense to anyone?

If you go to TRIM and loop the sample, then got to PARAMS you'll see the tempo of the sample shown, based on what the MPC assumes to be the number of beats in that sample. Adjust the beats accordingly and yo'll have the exact tempo. Then either use the TUNE function on the bottom left or TIMESTRETCH (EDIT, jog wheel to right) to change the tempo. Timestretch keeps the pitch of the sample intact.

Goto trim. When in trim press the fkey that says edit. Spin the wheel all the way to the right and use time strech, but thats gonaa be a prob if over 10 bpms. Sound gets all distorted. You might want to goto ZONE in trim and slice up samples. And then play it and all cut up in order to the BPMs
