its mad 'cos ive been using the qlink=s.start since its been possible, to do all that playback from diffrent hits in a breakbeat etc...

but i noticed the Amp env also has V>start. ive allways assumed it to be the start of the amp env only...(therefore never bothered with it)....but it does move the actual sample start time!...i spose loads of you cats been doing this THIS way huh?

so in this way you can free up another qlink slider, and use 16levels to modify playposition of the break y?

I used this function to get softer hits from snares and hats, never thought of using it this way. So it hought "great idea", tried it. If the start time would be distributed evenly you could have instant 16-chop of a 1-bar loop, too bad the sample start time wont be moved far enough. On a maybe 130 bpm loop you will get to the first snare on the 5th pad or sth. But theres surely a way to use this.

Btw. how do you do your technique efficiently? Cant imagine how to move the slider that exactly to come up with usable results

thats what im on about, i use the sliders normally to manually hit out different parts of a break, but yeah it aint accurate - ive suggested getting more functionality written into the os - to quantise the range of the qlink sliders to say : 32, 16, or 8 steps to freely fly around a break and always be on a hat or snare , kik, etc...

but my last post is on about the 16levels giving me 0-127 velocity on a pad, that has a break on it, and the pads Amp Env is set to V>start=100*,and V>level=0. so as velocity varies, the break plays from the appropriate place.

*with a little tweaking for each particular break, i need to vary the V>start=100, or any lower number, in order to tidy up the response. but a one bar break could be manually sliced on the spot by choosing 16 levels, i figured the 16 values would correspond to the 16 hits in a break....its not perfectly done, but its lush to play with especially how theres no volume change with V>level=0, the break gets shattered as i play random pressures.

of course using the 16 levels actually means that the start of the break is on pad16, and the following hits flow as u go down thro' the pads to pad1 which should be the last 16th hit.

yep. I use to do this alot before it was added as a qLink slider.
The 16 level mode with it is cool, but going into note repeat at 32 and pressing that pad is the coolest.
It's a bit of a pain to program (compared to going into qLink and selecting "all pads")and loosing the velocity to level is also a bit of a drag, but generally it's a very cool trick. And if you have a midi controller that can play at specific velocitys you can get pretty decent control of the start point.

I dont get this to work, tried a 2 bar loop but the sample start doesnt fit to the hits. Pitching up/down or changing the tempo wont help either. Adjusting V->SampleStart wont help because the "chops" are just a bit too short..

a bit of everything usually - 'electronic'a' - hiphop - hcore - braxe - abulence - double garage too : ), at the mo im on 148bpm, a bit old sh-09 acid/electro percussion'ness. n rvb/dly/cmp.

how about u? where u located?

just trying out a break tho' with them 16levels=s.start in a 99bpm seq tho'. to experiment the idea.

hhhmmm, keep at it, it does work to a greater (rather than lesser) degree.

its not clinical yet, i aint got it all the way down, but its def interesting... you can never tell when this application's the one for the job/track/tempo etc..
