What up people! I need some suggestions, I am looking to buy an mpc 2000xl (w 8outs), first off how much should I expect to pay (I dont want to get ripped off) any good stores over the web? And secondly and most imporantly, what do I get after that? - (accessories). I read alot about zip drives,cd drives and scsi drives I assume thats for memory right? I dont know much yet, so please tell me whats the best application to go with the mpc....I hope to get it this weekend....thanks for the help.

If you don't have anything to record 8-tracks (something like a multitracker or harddiskrecorder) i would get a zipdrive and max out memory before buyin the 8-out board.

 i saw an xl on ebay wit 8 outs for $850. i thought that was pretty good cause i got my 2000 for 750. excellent condition of course.

i recommend ebay.

you definately need a recorder. i have a tascam 488. its excellent and the learning curve is great. very easy to use and pretty powerful.

a keyboard that supports midi...

If you want to buy it used Ebay is a great place to buy. Just make sure you ask the seller a lot of questions. Make sure the lcd still lights up good. If you want it new, www.americanmusical.com is a good place to order from. They let you do payments with no finance charge. Shipping is usually free. The price for XL is mostly the same with most online stores. The only bad thing about buying it online is that you can't haggle the price.

I'm a little weary of getting something so expensive on ebay, I dont have good luck when it comes to anything used, so I will check that online store
and go for the zip drive and memory u/g. That seems to be the best route....Thanks to all, from an expecting mpc mother...I'm sure I'll have many more questions once I get my baby....PEACE!
